I just got this deck a few hours ago, and the art is absolutely stunning. I have been looking at the pictures, and they are so beautiful. It is written on thin cardstock, yes:( But the cards feel great to touch and shuffle because they have a nice matte finish. I love how the back looks. The box is very nice, and it has a pull-ribbon and a sticky lid that make it easy to get the book or cards out.
I love all of the symbols, and my natural curiosity makes me want to know what they mean (I don’t know what pagan, Wiccan, or Celtic symbols mean). I looked through the book to see if I could figure out some of the symbolism, but all I could find were the meanings and interpretations of the cards. There was nothing about the pictures or symbols on the cards. Maybe something will be said about it, but it doesn’t look like that will happen. But I’ve been looking up the images on Google to find out more about them. The card’s designer picked symbols that fit with what the card means. On the Eight of Swords, for example, the man’s hands each have a circle with a dot in the middle. This is the circumpunct, which is a sign for stopping, taking a step back, going inside yourself, and looking for spiritual answers. This goes well with the Eight of Swords, which is a card that makes you feel like you’re stuck and need to use your mind or logic to figure out how to get out of the situation. (I’m also seeing that this symbol has many other meanings in other traditions, like Kabbalah, so I’m not sure which one the deck creator was going for, but I like looking this stuff up and learning.)
I saw this deck online, and it’s easy to find pictures of each card. I saw it online and fell in love with it. I paid extra to get it the next day, and it was worth it. I feel a strong link to this deck and the beautiful, lovely pictures in it. Don’t worry if you don’t know much about pagan or Wiccan symbols. I don’t know much about them either, and if you’re familiar with the Rider-Waite-Smith system, each card is very easy to understand.
