Hush Tarot makes very detailed art with a ballpoint pen and pigments he finds in the wild. He often uses his fingerprints to create shading, which gives his art an old, textured, and timeless look. Hush’s work makes me feel like I’m small again, but even smaller than I used to be. It makes me think of being in nature, where the activity under rocks and in rotting logs seems bigger and louder because of the change in scale. Hush’s work is full of rich details that were inspired by natural shapes in different stages of life and death. It could fit in with Victorian botanical etchings as well as with modern drawings. Hush’s work takes the style of the 19th century and makes it much more interesting by adding his own cast of interesting female, male, and animal characters who travel through his haunted settings and invite the viewer to try to find the ghost story.
