Description
Cowrie Shells are used to represent the element of water in spells and rituals, as well as used in feminine magic, as they are said to resemble the vulva. With that in mind, they are magically used to represent a specific woman in love or passion work, although it could be used in baneful magic as well. Also, a symbol of fertility.
They can also be used in divination and are almost always present in the bone reading kit. When using several cowrie shells, their positions of being downward (closed) or upward (open) can indicate yes or no questions. Said to be used as a doorway for ancestor communication.
